Where do Bitcoins come from? Who created it and why? What's the point? Did only one person create it? Here are some frequently asked questions in the crypto community.
Who is Satoshi Nakamoto?
Satoshi Nakamoto, the anonymous creator of Bitcoin, has never shared any information about their profile.
In their online profiles, they claim to be a Japanese man born in 1975. Even if this information is proven to be correct, it also does not help narrow down the possible candidate for Nakamoto.
If you browse through Nakamoto's posts on forums and other posts, you'll find a few discrepancies.
The timing of Nakamoto's post is quite surprising for someone living in Japan. They must be someone who is nocturnal.
Likewise with his writings. Nakamoto uses British English with very natural grammar.
Additionally, none of the writing, including code labeling, is written in Japanese. As an example, here is an excerpt from the original email sent for the cryptographic mailing list:
'I made the proof-of-work difficulty ridiculously easy to start with, so for a little while in the beginning a typical PC will be able to generate coins in just a few hours. It'll get a lot harder when competition makes the automatic adjustment drive up the difficulty.'
Then, there are also references to The Times newspaper which is a newspaper in British English. But it should also be noted, Nakamoto sometimes also uses American English.
How about an April 5th birthday, 1975? This date may be a reference to Nakamoto's political views. On April 5, 1933, Franklin D. Roosevelt signed a ban on private gold holdings.
Anyone caught violating will be subject to 10 years in prison. Then in 1975, the US government reversed the rule so everyone could own their own gold.
Seeing as the date of birth is as fake as the name, this might just be some sort of hidden message.
Nobody Knows Satoshi Nakamoto
Before the official Bitcoin report was released, no one in the cryptographic community had ever heard of Nakamoto.
None of the people who were involved in the start of the project knew his identity, nor had anyone ever met or spoken to him on the phone.
Nakamoto's sudden appearance is very mysterious. It took years to accumulate knowledge and expertise in this area.
However, Nakamoto was able to solve a problem that cryptographers had been working on for years.
Speculation on the Identity of Satoshi Nakamoto
Nick Szabo
This led to speculation that Nakamoto was a well-known figure. Nick Szabo, a cryptographer and creator of Bitcoin's predecessor Bit Gold, is one such candidate.
Szabo grapples with many of the problems that Nakamoto eventually solves. In addition, because he also has relevant and in-depth knowledge in his field.
According to Elon Musk, Satoshi's identity can be traced through who wrote about the ideas, and according to Musk, Szabo is a strong candidate as Satoshi Nakamoto. However, Szabo denies any involvement with Bitcoin.
Craig Wright
Computer scientist Craig Wright is also a possible candidate. Wright even claimed that he was Nakamoto. He has a background in security, technology and finance.
However, due to the lack of evidence, and the controversy surrounding the evidence provided by Wright, his claim to the Bitcoin throne is considered a mere hoax.
However, it is also possible that Szabo and Wright were both involved in the creation of Bitcoin.
To what extent their involvement is still in question. These theories do not stop here. There are also some unusual ideas that pop up.
Elon Musk
We're about to move on to an even crazier theory. In a post on Medium, Sahil Gupta linked Bitcoin to Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk.
Gupta mentioned Musk's technical know-how and ability to master new fields. However, Musk also denies any form of involvement with Bitcoin.
Combined Company Names
'Satoshi Nakamoto' could be a combination of the names of four technology companies:
- Samsung
- Toshiba
- Nakamichi
- and Motorola
Is Bitcoin a collaborative partnership of these companies?
If so, why and what is the ultimate goal? And why are these companies no longer collaborating on other projects?
One other theory is that Bitcoin was created by the CIA, or some other government agency. The name 'Satoshi Nakamoto' translates as 'intelligence center.'
According to this theory, Nakamoto's ability to conceal his identity indicated intelligence training.
But if this source was classified, why did they leave a clue to the name? Then, what is the motivation and ultimate goal?
Artificial Intelligence
Another theory states that Nakamoto is an artificial intelligence (AI / artificial intelligence). Another common conspiracy theory claims that 'aliens created it.'
According to this theory, Bitcoin is the result of extraterrestrial thinking. Time travel and Bible prophecy have even emerged among these theories.
Brilliant, but not ordinary. Those involved early on in the project acknowledged Nakamoto's intelligence and ability.
However, they also pointed out that her figure is unconventional. Jeff Garzik, one of the early developers involved in the project, explained to CoinDesk:
“Satoshi is a fantastic designer and architect. He spent several years thinking about this system, and, based on what he said, he had to write the system down to prove to himself that it could work… Nakamoto sure was like a god whenever we asked about the system, but he rarely followed. standard engineering practices, such as writing units or performing robustness tests or other standard qualitative analysis that we normally perform on software. Some things even need to be disabled immediately after the launch of Bitcoin because they are vulnerable to exploitation.”
In addition, there is also a question about the motivation for its creation. What drives someone to create Bitcoin? This does not appear to be for financial gain.
They have mined about a million Bitcoins for themselves. That number is now worth billions. However, since the initial test transaction, they never touched it.
We don't really have the answers, we just have lots of questions. We're sure you have lots of questions too.
However, the answer we want for the ambiguity of Nakamoto's identity actually reveals more about ourselves than about Nakamoto himself.
Whether it's aliens, AI, government agencies, tech companies, in the end Nakamoto is a mystery.
